Our Faurecia Clean Mobility division is looking for a Welding Process Engineer for its production facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing weld processes for new products and product changes through coordination of customer teams, prototyping, manufacturing and purchasing.  This candidate will seek to optimize labor and production rates, both tangible and intangible, for producing designs, employing Value Engineering Methods as required, and including labor, burden, tooling, fixturing, gaging, equipment and process.  You will act as a liaison with international and NA Faurecia manufacturing & technical centers to develop "World Class" weld process possibilities and generates detail variance to existing weld process to identify improvement opportunities.


The main missions of the role are to:

         Provide welding process assumptions to estimators, customer teams, sales and manufacturing to support decision-making.

         Support the cost and pricing group in the development of detailed analysis of weld processes, capital equipment and tooling required for product cost development.

         Participate and support customer presentations for Program Development capabilities, Manufacturing Capabilities and cost/price rationale of products.

         Contribute to the engineering change management process.

  • Be the interface with the product engineer (D&D) regarding follow-up of the product conception: from the acquisition phase till Start of Production.
  • Ensure manufacturing feasibility, participate to product FMEA
  • Define cycle time in line with takt time and standard operations
  • Integrate ergonomics principles in product design
  • Establish manufacturing routines and release manufacturing process documents
  • Define production equipment specifications and ensure equipment delivery and installation in the plant

The ideal candidate will have/be:

         Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering

  • Excellent analytical, communication (written & oral) and problem solving, proficiency in spreadsheet software
  • Welding background covering all exhaust, catalyst and manifold parts, sub systems and systems
  • A solid appreciation and working knowledge of Value Management and team building skills to help reconcile any conflicts between design and manufacturing requirements

          Welding Knowledge in MIG, TIG, Plasma, Laser Welding and GMAW manual welding of thin materials

         Technical drawling comprehension, APQP, processes mapping, QS9000, SPC, GDT, math, welding methods, automotive industry experience preferred, welding experience a must   

         3-5 years’ experience (robotic mig/tig welding)
