Matrix Power Services is a highly established company specializing in the maintenance and repair of waste to energy facilities. We are seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals to aid in the continuing growth and quality of our company. Experience as a boilermaker or tube welder preferred. Below is a summary of work and expectations.

 Summary of work: construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries including all components involved in fuel delivery, combustion and ash removal and handling. Align structures, plate sections or boiler tube to assemble boiler components following blueprints or verbal instruction. Work involves use of hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, torches and welders. Below are some duties required but in no way is the position limited to these tasks alone as we are always evolving and doing our best to satisfy our customers and their needs.

Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or any component of ash handling to locate defects, such as leaks, weak spots, or defective sections, so that they can be repaired.

Bolt or arc welds pressure vessel structures and parts together, using wrenches or welding equipment.

Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves or regulators, using torches, jacks, grinders, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, or metalworking machinery.

Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators to lift heavy frame and plate sections or other parts into place.

Bell, bead with power hammers, or weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leak-proof joints.

Lay out plate, sheet steel, or other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines, using protractors, compasses, and drawing instruments or templates.

Install manholes, hand holes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or feed water connections in drums of water tube boilers, using hand tools.

Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, or dimensions of parts.

Straighten or reshape bent  plates or structure parts, using hammers, jacks, or torches.

Position, align, and secure structural parts or related assemblies to boiler frames, tanks, or various components used in the power generation process.

Shape or fabricate parts, such as stacks, uptakes, or chutes, to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or piping to premises, using heavy-metalworking machines such as brakes, rolls, or drill presses.

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to management or other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills - Computer skills are not required for this position.

Other Skills and Abilities - For safety reasons, it is imperative that the employee be able to read and speak fluent English.

Other Qualifications - Travel or commute for this position is necessary. We service customers from Maine to Florida and are always gaining new ones so it is often rare to be able to commute from ones house. That being said, a valid drivers license is mandatory. Hotel and travel pay are provided along with per diem.
