LOCATION: * SCHEDULED TO BE ASSIGNED TO: YUBA COLLEGE
SALARY: $51,377 - $82,695/YR. (Initial placement will not be higher than the above listed salary, the top step for this position is Class VI, Step 19 which is $102,828 /YR.)
COMMENCING: Fall 2015
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The person selected will be expected to:
Serve as the lead instructor for the Manufacturing curriculum, including maintenance of Machine Shop laboratory and appropriate technology;
Order, maintain, and ensure the proper use of equipment in the manufacturing lab
Organize and teach all levels of community college manufacturing courses, which currently include manual and CNC machining equipment, software and computers and welding/ fabrication
Instruction and classroom management of certificate and degree level courses in manufacturing.
Identification and development of course curriculum, including project based learning and other methods of instruction to foster student success
Organize and teach specialized courses in welding/manufacturing according to ones background and expertise
Facilitate student learning by working to develop every students abilities and by designing varied and motivating learning environments
Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, recruit students, and work with articulation agreements with local colleges and schools
Create course schedules and class rotations.
Providing student advisement for program participants.
Maintaining student records.
Maintaining program equipment and safe work environments.
Have an understanding of equipment and tooling required to instruct students to develop skills necessary to gain employment in manufacturing
Develop and maintain a relevant community college manufacturing curriculum, including appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities;
Work with staff in the welding, automotive, and other related departments, as well as other academic programs at the college
Work with other non-academic departments at Yuba College
Establishing and fostering mutually beneficial relationships with business and industry.
Maintain an active advisory committee with local businesses to ensure an up-to-date curriculum and assist students with job placement upon graduation
Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods;
Develop and maintain relevant curriculum for the manufacturing program
Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning, (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees; and
Be committed to, and participate in, the share-governance process
Be able to perform the tasks required in a manufacturing shop such as; lifting, bending, standing and other tasks associated with the position
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Welding at California Community Colleges:
Any associates degree and six years of experience OR
Any bachelors degree and two years of experience OR
The equivalent OR
Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area
Preference may be given to applicants with:
A high level of education/expertise sufficient to meet the qualifications to teach in at least one discipline other than manufacturing. The area may be closely related to manufacturing, such as Drafting/CAD, welding, blueprint reading or fabrication;
Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach manufacturing;
Experience working with manufacturing courses at the transfer level, including appropriate laboratory experience;
Experience working with CAD and other drafting tools;
Familiarity with the use of technology, laboratories, or other methods for teaching manufacturing courses;
Experience supervising and/or working with a diverse population
Background in the use of technology in the classroom/laboratory
Professional memberships and network that will help to promote the program
Previous teaching experience utilizing a distributive education modality (interactive television, online, etc.)
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
EQUIVALENCY: Applicants must meet YCCD minimum qualifications by the filing date or have been awarded equivalency by the District prior to the publication of the Recruitment Announcement.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Categorically funded positions are contingent upon funding. In accordance to Board Policy, smoking is restricted in many areas of the Yuba Community College District. Woodland Community College is a tobacco free campus.

BENEFITS/SALARY: The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependent, valued at over $18,000 annually with a $178.50 monthly out of pocket expense to employees or dependents for monthly premiums. The package includes health, dental, vision, two (2) life insurance policies and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), 457/403b options, 10 sick days and a 178 day contract. INITIAL PLACEMENT WILL NOT BE HIGHER THAN CLASS 6, STEP 10, ACCORDING TO THE ACADEMIC HANDBOOK.
