Laurus Technical Institute is a private post-secondary school offering technical/vocational training within the Allied Health and Allied Trade fields. The company is seeking qualified full-time and part-time Welding Instructors for its Welding Program. Day class schedule:  Monday through Thursday – 7:30am – 3:30pm. Evening class schedule:  Monday through Thursday – 5:30pm to 10:30pm.  Employment with Laurus Technical Institute is contingent upon a background check and drug screen.

The Welding Instructor is responsible for teaching students the theory, concepts, and practical application of welding and the welding trade. The welding instructor is to assist with the continuous development and improvement of the welding curriculum and quality control for the welding program. The welding instructor is responsible for meeting goals and continuously raising the standards of the institution with a dedication and commitment to students, employers, and the community. The welding instructor is a team member responsible for student retention, graduate rates, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures of the education department.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the dedication and commitment to student retention and completion.
  • Train students to be proficient with welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
  • Train students to be proficient with thermal cutting processes including OFC, PAC, and CAC.
  • Learn, implement, and maintain LTI’s seven fundamentals of classroom management.
  • Provide instruction that follows course and program objectives set forth in the program’s curriculum.
  • Maintain and communicate accurate academic and attendance records.
  • Learn, abide, and maintain the school’s policies within the school catalog and employee handbook.
  • Aid in the continuous assessment and development of lectures, daily lesson plans, teaching methods, demonstrations, labs, syllabi, equipment and training facilities.
  • At the end of each course, evaluate and communicate student academic progress individually to students.
  • Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, and “At risk” meetings as required. At risk meetings are to identify student challenges and needs to assist with resolutions.
  • Represent and maintain good public relations when conducting business related activities outside of the campus. (i.e. seminars, in-service training, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the education department.
  • Complete professional development and continuing education requirements.
  • Ensure honest, open, transparent, and professional internal and external communications.
  • Assist with preparing and conducting Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.
  • Assist with identifying employer relationships in the welding industry to:
    • Provide equipment donations
    • Serve on the Program Advisory Committee
    • Provide employment to our graduates
    • Keep abreast of issues in the welding industry



  • Minimum of seven years welding experience required.
  • Current certifications in two or more processes required. 6G with carbon, aluminum, and stainless steel preferred.
  • Pass Laurus written test on welding processes.
  • Pass practical weld tests in each process.
  • AWS CWI or equivalent inspection experience per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A preferred.
  • Individual welding certifications and NDE certifications helpful. Additional experience considered in lieu of certs.
  • Current OSHA 10 hour certificate preferred.



  • Maintain the appropriate professional appearance according to LTI’s dress code and set an example for students.
  • Ability to establish rapport with colleagues including instructors, administrators, and students.
  • Flexible and a team player.
  • Genuine concern for students’ development is required.
