company that provides metallurgical engineering, failure
analysis and testing services. Our engineering
staff has consulting experts in ferrous and nonferrous
metallurgy, casting, polymer testing, failure analysis
and expert witnessing. Our engineering experts
analyze and solve problems in all grades of cast iron,
aluminum, magnesium, steel and copper alloys as well as
polymers.We conduct failure analyses, research,
educational courses, defect analyses, and consult on
process development for military, aerospace, medical,
automotive and energy companies and suppliers. Stork
Technimet has testing capabilities and expert personnel
who perform metallography, chemical analysis, polymer
testing, mechanical and fatigue testing, weld analysis,
corrosion testing, and wear testing.

Technimet is an operating unit of Stork Materials
Technology, which offers a broad range of engineering and
testing services at 31 laboratories located throughout
the United States and Europe.
We have
an opening for a Welding Engineer.He/she is
to be based out of our New Berlin (Wisconsin) office and
will report to the Engineering Manager.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are
looking for an energetic and pro-active engineer who can
grow and maintain our weld consultancy and evaluation
business. While doing this you will be part of a
professional team of engineers and technicians. In this
role you will:
Provide assistance to
clients by interacting directly with clients via
phone, email or visits.
Provide telephone and
onsite consultation regarding welding
code/standard questions.
Prepare Welding Procedure
Specification Draft documents for client use in
preparing procedure test coupons.
Perform as onsite witness
for welding of procedure and performance test
coupons.
Complete post-weld visual
inspection of test coupons per requested
specifications.
Report weld test results
using standard laboratory report formats.
Conduct Weld Failure
analysis or Engineering project on a mid to high
level. Some of this work might be related to
litigations where we support as experts witness
either the plaintiff or defendant.
Verify that client
fabrication requirements meet the applicable
drawings and/or contract.
Develop new clients and
follow-up with existing clients.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's
degree or higher (MS is preferred) in Welding Technology
or Welding Engineering with a minimum of 5 or more years
of industrial welding experience.Additional
metallurgical or mechanical engineering education, as
well as design and fabrication experience are considered
advantageous.
Additional
knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and
licenses
AWS Certified Welding
Inspector (CWI)
Previous work experience
must include use and familiarity with BS EN ISO,
API, AWS or ASME Section codes (e.g. Military and
NAVSEA), and/or other relevant codes, standards
and specifications.
Experience with arc fusion
welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW,
etc.
Practical experience with
the welding of carbon and alloy steels required,
additional experience with other materials such
as aluminum and stainless steel is considered a
plus.
Experience with special
product testing fixture design and fabrication is
also considered a plus.
Practical experience with
brazing and soldering techniques is considered a
plus.
Any additional
nondestructive test experience and/or other weld
credentials would also be considered relevant for
the position.
Developed oral and written
communication skills to interact with Stork
personnel and client customer contacts.
