FT INST WELDING The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for a position in the area of Welding. The position requires the ability to lecture and supervise student laboratory work in welding techniques, such as: Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Extensive knowledge in welding and welding related theories and technologies applicable to industry standards is required. Demonstrate creativity and innovation in the field and service in the profession. Plan and organize lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree and five years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR * Associate's degree and six years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR * The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated above, must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR * Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject. * Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Strong organizational skills. * Community college department teaching experience. * D1.1 Certification. * Certificates from American Welding Society or Contractor State License Board of California. * Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships with related industry and advisory committees. * Ability to establish and maintain contact with district high school career technical education programs related to Welding. * Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods for various learning styles. * An interest in developing green technology curriculum. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Contract shall be for full-time, tenure-track teaching assignment for the 2010 - 2011 academic year, beginning August 28, 2010. A teaching demonstration will be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card. SALARY The starting salary ranges from $56,077 - $81,624 depending on education and experience. Excellent fringe benefits are included.
