Welding Instructor

Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in teaching field or related field
required. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work
experience in the welding field, exclusive of teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge in welding and welding related
theories and technologies applicable to industry
standards. Ability to pass welding test in the 6G
position using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas
Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding
(GMAW) processes. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Bilingual

Responsibilities 1. Teaching
Responsibilities:

b. Demonstrates high standards-academic and
professional.
c. Evaluates student work constructively and
provides timely feedback
d. Teaches at times and locations that meet
student needs.
e. Provides access to students through posted
conference hours, electronic communications, and
other appropriate methods and responds to
inquiries in a timely manner.
f. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student
learning materials.
g. Develops and uses a syllabus and course
information materials for each course,
laboratory, or clinical setting within state,
college, and departmental guideline
2. Professional Development
a. Maintains high standards of competence in the
discipline(s) teaching methodologies through
professional development activities.
b. Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching
methods and materials which assist students in
meeting course objectives, are appropriate for
students with diverse educational and
experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and
engage the students in learning.
c. Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises
program curricula and teaching methods through a
self-evaluation process of self reflection.
d. Meets or exceeds professional standards,
state-mandated guidelines, requirements of
business/industry, and higher education, as
appropriate to the discipline(s).
3. Service
a. Actively participates in college meetings
and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
b. Participates in college-related activities
such as registration, community education,
recruitment of students, student retention, and
faculty selection.
c. Participates in college activities for
students/student organizations to aid in
retention.
d. Participates in business and community
activities that foster goodwill and promote the
mission and values of the college.
e. Participates in activities required to
maintain program and college accreditation
standards.
f. Participates in setting departmental goals, in
developing college budgets that support the
goals, and in planning for achieving those goals.
g. Promotes and maintains departmental
affiliation agreements and other partnerships
with other institutions.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Instruct day, evening and weekend credit and
continuing and professional development classes
as assigned by the college. Assignment will
include assisting in maintaining welding labs:
inventory control, and ordering supplies;
maintain scheduled class and office hours;
recruitment of students; prepare and administer
advanced standing examinations; maintain neat and
accurate class and attendance records; perform
routine maintenance on equipment; provide
necessary assistance and input in completing
departmental forms and schedules; project a
positive image and promote the interests of the
college at all times. Work under the supervision
of the welding department Chairman and Dean of
Technical Education. Perform other duties as
