Laser Welding -
A welding technology that emerged in the 90's
with the development of laser sources such as CO2 and
Nd:YAG. Laser welding
in principle is similar to arc welding from application
of external energy standpoint
and typically requires a filler metal. Utilized to a
large extent in
sheet welding for automotive applications. Auto body
welding has moved to
laser welding in Europe and North America is beginning to
adopt as well.
